Lisa McCubbin Hill and Clint Hill

About Lisa McCubbin Hill

Lisa McCubbin is an award-winning journalist and the coauthor of five New York Times bestselling books. While writing her first book, The Kennedy Detail (2010) with longtime family friend Gerald Blaine, Lisa interviewed retired Secret Service Agent Clint Hill. At that time, Hill was reclusive and had rarely spoken about his time in the Secret Service. The Kennedy Detail became a surprise bestseller. Shortly thereafter, Lisa convinced Clint Hill to put his own stories down on paper and together they wrote the #1 New York Times bestseller Mrs. Kennedy and Me (2012).

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of President John f. Kennedy's assassination, McCubbin and Hill paired up to write Five Days in November, a riveting first-person account of those tragic days told alongside 170 archival photographs.

Next came  what is essentially Clint Hill's autobiography: Five Presidents: My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford (2016). Lisa's longtime editor Mitchell Ivers provided the impetus for Lisa to write another true story that had yet to be told, that of Betty Ford.  BETTY FORD: First Lady, Women’s Advocate, Survivor, Trailblazer, is the landmark biography of one of the most admired and influential women of our time.

In 2021, Clint Hill and Lisa McCubbin were married at their home in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Lisa formally changed her name to Lisa McCubbin Hill. My Travels with Mrs. Kennedy is the first title with her married name.
